Laura Salas is taking the month of July off from blogging. She asked if I would like to host 15 words or less photopoetry for the month and I said sure! This is no pressure, lots of fun. If you’re not familiar with it, you can read the guidelines here.
Here’s this week’s picture.
What does this make you think of? Are you going down or freezing at the top in fear?
If you’d like to play, just choose any topic this image makes come to your mind and write a quick 15 Words or Less poem. Your poem doesn’t have to describe this photo. The picture is just a jumping-off point. Basically look at the picture and write a poem of 15 words or less inspired by the photo. Please add your byline to the poem so I can include it in the poetry Friday roundup.
Go on. You know you want to.
Watch your step
you never know where they go
way down
into depths of despair
– Anne McKenna
And sometimes they might lead you back up to the light, eh Anne? 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
Watch Your Back
Planks remain bare
Poisonous vines
don’t tread visible paths
They climb directly
into your heart
–Laura Purdie Salas
Thanks, Susan!
Re: Watch Your Back
Yikes – poisonous vines in your heart creeps me out. Hope they are gone before your big event at ALA. Have an awesome time.
Re: Watch Your Back
Oh, good! I wanted them to be creepy. Luckily, it’s not autobiographical…unless the vines are nervousness and lack of confidence!
Off to ALA in 30 minutes. Yay!
Conquering
Breath catching
Heart palpitating,
searching depths
Mastering fear,
Take a step!
been afraid too long
~melissa
Re: Conquering
Oh I like this a lot, especially those first two lines!
I’m so glad
I’m not Jimmy Stewart
In that movie
VERTIGO
Instead,
Here I go!
~slatts
Love this, Slatts!
Love this, Slatts!
Thanks, Susan…
I enjoy this poem form but never make it to the host site. But since My Friend is hosting it this month!
Re: Love this, Slatts!
🙂 Aw, glad I could convince you pause and post. I’ll be hosting all month. And I am getting back on track with blogging stuff again.
The view–spectacular!
But now….
Spinning, spiraling….
Where’s Jimmy Stewart
when you need him?
Kathy Q.
wordsrmylife
Love the humor in this, Kathy. Thank you.
Round
and round
redwood tight-gripped
I wish
life
had so graceful
a bannister.
Oh I love the unexpectedness of that last phrase. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a bannister for life?
Wasn’t sure
where I was headed.
Pick a card,any card.
Life’s a gamble.
By Martha Calderaro
Thanks, Susan!
oh it does look like a deck of cards fanned out, doesn’t it? Very nice. Thank you.
July 9 Post – 15 word poem
Round and round
One step down.
Round and round
Two steps down.
All around. Ground.
-Louise Henriksen
Re: July 9 Post – 15 word poem
Love this, Lousie! The last word made me giggle/
July 9 Post – 15 word poem
Cycles, circles go around,
Until the way of dusty death and ground.
– G Grenley
Re: July 9 Post – 15 word poem
Nice, G Grenley. Very moody.
Each day
fans out
from Summer
separate
but connected
in their uniformity
of season.
Diane, I love this being concrete yet abstract at the same time.
Steps too narrow.
Feet too long.
Thanks–
I think I’ll stay
up here.
Cynthia Cotten
Oh this made me laugh out loud, Cynthia. Thanks for sharing.
Board
by Sue Douglass Fliess
Board, so bored,
with the same steps.
Time to stop looking back and go up.
Re: Board
hahaha. What a fun view to take on this. Very nice, Sue.
The Board Monster
Board monster’s here.
Couldn’t nail him down.
It spins wooden paddles
spanking kids in town.
Re: The Board Monster
ooh, this went in an unexpected way for me. I love being surprised in a poem. Nicely done.
