from my 16-year old:
Neil Young (old school)
Pink Floyd (old school)
The Killers (alt rock)
Soulja Boy (rap)
Enter the Haggis (touring celtic-rock band, better in person than on CD)
My boys (age 13) like The Killers, Daft Punk, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alien Ant Farm, Counting Crows, Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Kaiser Chiefs, The Offspring, REM, Pearl Jam, and Weezer.
Tough call, lady – teen boys are all over the map for music.
Ethan likes rock classics – the Who, the Doors, the Stones, Metallica, Pink Floyd
Josh likes emo stuff – Good Charlotte, Blue October, etc.
Ben likes an interesting mix: John Mayer, Cat Stevens, Billy Joel, the Killers
And then there’s all the rap/hip-hop stuff. Don’t know if there’s still an East Coast v. West Coast thing going on, so what you suggest in that vein might open a kettle of fish.
Veering to the rocker side, a few of the popular bands out there are: Nickelback (who actually likes them? I don’t know, but they had like the best-selling album last year), Green Day, Linkin Park, All American Rejects
For hip-hop: T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Flo Rida, T.I., Kanye West
Emo: the Killers, Panic at the Disco, Fall Out Boy
Boys are an eclectic bunch, I see there are some classic rock lovers out there too.

Oh sure, they’re all over the map like we’re all over the map but I didn’t even know where to start. 🙂 This helps. Thanks!

Thanks for more ideas!
I was surprised but pleased to see some classic rock stuff too. This week I’ll try to wade through some of these suggestions.
