We are coming to the end of the house makeover. The floors were finished today, except for some painting of the baseboards. A few more little things to finish and I hope we can start moving the furniture back into place (and out of my office) this week.
Before we had white ceramic tile just over most of the area. It gave the house a very cold feeling, not the comfy and welcoming one that we wanted. The flooring is EcoTimber woven strand bamboo in amber. It’s tough stuff.
I plan to be back to the blogging world soon. Really.
The floors look fantastic. It is my dream to have all hardwood!
Thanks, Jen. We have wanted wood floors since we bought the house and I can’t believe what a difference it has made. The only downside is that it makes the carpet in the library look tired. haha!
Is the library next? I am also extremely jealous of your library. 🙂
I think hardwood floors just make a space look cleaner and more refined. We have old linoleum (complete with tears) so it’s time for us! Next year maybe.
I think the library carpet is just going to get a nice cleaning. We’ll likely always have carpet in there so we can have one soft, cushy kind of place. And someday it will need to be replaced but I can’t even think about that because that means all those new bookcases will have to be emptied and the shelves taken out. Ugh.
Wow, Susan. What a difference that makes! So warm and inviting!
Wow Susan! The floors are such a great improvement! Very warm and inviting!
Gorgeous, Susan! I love my hardwoods and even the laminate we put in my office. We’re in the throes of re-doing my husband’s office–he’ll get new carpet. I’m at the stage where I’m wishing I’d never started this!
It looks just lovely. I’m glad you can sit and enjoy the fruit of your labors soon!
Beautiful! Quite a massive undertaking, too. It’ll feel SO good to get everything back in place so you can relax and enjoy the fruits of all your labors. 🙂
Yay, Susan! It looks AMAZING!
It is really beautiful. Funny how much of a difference wood makes. We have wood floors too, except for two bathrooms and the kitchen. It makes everything warm and inviting.
That is just awesome! You’re right, the feel about the rooms is so much warmer. I love what you did <3
Beautiful wood flooring! Seeing your new flooring makes me so excited to get mine done! I’m having to wait until some time in the new year. I hope you are able to get your furniture moved back in soon.
Lovely!
It is ironic that I found this particular piece on your blog today. I know it was written almost two months ago. Today though I am returning to my newly found writers group.
I like you am not sure where I am headed. I don’t know how I am supposed to be writing, also like you I write mostly for myself. For almost the same reason. To find myself. To find where it is I fit into the bigger picture of what is called life. I started writing in an attempt to make myself feel better. Get out of he deep depression I had fallen into.
Today I think , no I know I can finally say it through my series of letters that have woven themselves into I book I have written and survived a completed Chapter of my life.
