Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions for music that brings up emotions. I spent my weekend ripping all my CDs to my computer (what can I say, I’m way behind the times) and then sorting things out for a playlist. I decided to do one that was wordless and one that was all vocals. The wordless one isn’t done yet but below is what I ended up with. Those with an * can bring me to tears in just a few bars.
Now for the next step. Seeing if I can listen to them enough times to break down the reserve I have about going deep with this new project.

Susan, I know you’re buried – no need to respond.
But I’ve been plugged into my iPod a lot lately (doing some dull stuff at work) and I thought I would add some evocative songs to your list:
Third Eye Blind – “When You Don’t Know Me” – This group is alternative and most of their stuff is loud boy-energy, but this song is quieter and rips my heart our every single time I listen to it.
Bruce Springsteen – two songs from his album The Rising, “Into the Fire” and “The Rising” – he recorded this album after 9/11. Enough said.
The Eagles – “I Can’t Tell You Why” – so pretty and sad.
I agreed with the poster who mentioned “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” by Bonnie Raitt.
Mike & the Mechanics – that sad song about his father, I can’t remember the title. Oh! “The Living Years,” I think.
That is all.
For now.
Have a nice weekend!
Hey, thanks a bunch! This has become quite a quest, the search for music. I’ve got a huge list I’m trying to figure out how to share….I mean nearly a thousand songs that people have said hit them hard in the heart. It’s really interesting to see and it’s introducing me to new music, which I love. And reminding me of old ones that I forgot about. Like the Mike & the Mechanics song…I used to bawl too but I lost the CD. Gonna have to go get it now.
Must go back to work. Must go back to work.
