Laura Salas is off on another round of school visits promoting her new book STAMPEDE. She asked if I would like to host 15 words or less photopoetry this week and I said sure! This is no pressure, lots of fun. If you’re not familiar with it, you can read the guidelines here.
Here’s this week’s picture.
What does this make you think of? Where do you think the keys are for all those locks? Does it make you smile?
If you’d like to play, just choose any topic this image makes come to your mind and write a quick 15 Words or Less poem. Your poem doesn’t have to describe this photo. The picture is just a jumping-off point. Basically look at the picture and write a poem of 15 words or less inspired by the photo. Please add your byline to the poem so I can include it in the poetry Friday roundup.
Go on. You know you want to.
SHACKLED
I’m all locked up,
I don’t know why…
Better to ponder,
than sit and cry…
– Fred Higgins
Re: SHACKLED
Nice to see you here, Fred.
I had the same feeling when I saw this picture – locked up and don’t know why. You don’t think we’re under any stress, do you? LOL
PICKLOCK’S FINAL EXAM
From experience
one finds that
the key to
most locks
is not
using a key.
I love this! So true…the key is no key at all….sort of like the power that we always have inside of us.
LOCKED UP
In this room
feeling locked up
With no key
there’s no escape
Linda Bozzo
So cute, Linda, to see your poem with your book dog poking his head out. 🙂 I feel like he helped you write it.
Lockdown!
“They’re having a party.
Can I go?
Oh, don’t be so dramatic.
Just say no.”
Cindyb
Re: Lockdown!
Nice, Cindy. I like you have managed to squeeze in rhyme as well. Hard to do with so few words to work with.
Passages
In and out.
Or not out?
Who comes?
Who doesn’t go?
Scattered.
-Becky Levine
(Thanks for hosting, Susan!)
This really mirrors a confused teenager worrying about peer pressure to me. Your mileage may vary. 😉
My brain
Without coffee
Locked
In disarray
I hear that! Hmmm…but what is my excuse for the disarray AFTER several cups of coffee?
You bought Maxwell House instead of Seattle’s Best?
LOL
I’m left wondering what all those locks might be hiding. 🙂
Yeah…that alone could be quite a short story, couldn’t it?
Re: First Warm Day of Spring
Oh Pat, I really like this. It works on several levels. People need to read it a couple of times to make sure they get it all.
Key to Her Heart
He searched for the key to her heart
Like so many others before him
Rick Wainright
Re: Key to Her Heart
Twang went my own heartstrings. Nice.
Locks
Locks waiting.
What to protect?
Peace.
Love.
Friendship.
Fresh air?
15 words or less
Me
A place where I can be
Me
Big
Small
Skinny
Fat
Me
I am home.
Re: 15 words or less
Love this, Sue! And don’t we all need a place like that?
One unlocks your dark-clawed fear,
Another your heart’s muse.
The rest, who knows?
Now choose!
