Just a quick posting of some of the books in the new house. This is the library. The wall to the left of the picture wraps around and there are two more bookcases there plus the TV. On the right there are more bookcases as well. We painted this room red before we moved in. New furniture is on its way, a camelback couch and a pair of leather chairs. Eventually we’ll redo the fireplace mantle/tile. (The entire house was a formal Italian style which isn’t us.)

GOT BOOKS?
Just one or two. 🙂
Oh, I’m jealous! I don’t have all my books out of storage, but even if I did they wouldn’t fill up that much space.
Lucky!
That doesn’t include the ones in my husband’s office (4 bookcases) or the one upstairs. I feel very lucky. I’m so grateful my husband is a booklover too!
Now that is alot of books!
You have a LIBRARY. How cool is that?
Janet
Very, very cool! We bought the house to have room for the books.
Fantastic! I love your red walls and your shelves.
It’s very nice to see you around LJ again, too.
🙂
Thanks on all counts. It’s good to be back. I missed so much I’ll never catch up.
Oh, Susan! It looks lovely! 😀
How long do you think it will be before you need to add more additional bookshelves? ;P
Uhm, we’ve already filled up the libary and my husband’s office. I only have a few shelves left in my office. So I guess, like now? Oh, and the cookbooks in the kitchen.
We’re going to do built-ins in the library but I don’t think we’ll gain any room at all with them. I suppose the time will come when we will have to purge …
Thanks!
I’m really beyond envious. That’s like my dream room right there.
It’s our dream room, too. I’m not kidding when I say we bought the house for the books.
We don’t have kids where we have to worry about the school district but we did need to have a room big enough for a library. The books make it a home for us. That why the TV is in there too.
We have a living room but I confess I haven’t the foggiest idea what to put into it. 🙂
I have MAJOR envy!!!!!
I have DOUBLE MAJOR envy!
🙂
🙂 Thanks. You need to come see in person, just ’cause you CAN!
Whoops – that one was supposed to attached to Debbi but Lawrence, you’re welcome any time!
Looking forward to it! 🙂
**jaw drops in awe**
and cool sticker
thank you! (I should be mailing your package soon!)
I am completely salivating over here. It looks bigger than my local public library! :O So cool!
Thank you and I love your icon!
I envy you; your office has a door!!!
It actually has 4 doors. Which is both good and bad. My office is the old sunroom so there are French Doors from the living room to my office, French Doors from the library into my office, and two patio doors to the backyard.
But I knew I wanted to be in the middle of things downstairs as well as have a view. The challenge is in rearranging things so it mostly looks neat. Hahahaha
Ahhh…like everyone else, I’m so jealous of all those bookshelves!! I have to restrain my book-buying due to lack of shelvage…
I totally understand. This is heaven for us though I am discovering that I don’t have storage in this house for much more than books. But hey, what else do you really need, right?
Wowzers! Shelf envy here.
LOL. I love my library.
LOVELY!
You weren’t kidding when you said you had a lot of books. Wow!
I love the wooden beams on the ceiling too.
Nope, not kidding at all. 🙂
I love the wood beams too. I have them in my office but for some reason they painted them WHITE. Grrr! Eventually I would like to have them natural again. These are the same people who put in skylights in my office, then just closed them up. And high windows that they boarded up from the outside. We’re at least opening the windows back up but the sky lights will have to wait a couple of years until we put on a new roof.
I LOVE your library! Is that a working fireplace? Mmm, I am covetous.
And yay for your sticker!
Yes, a working fireplace, albeit a gas one.
I’m thinking of a wood mantle/surround to match the beams. Not sure about the tile.
That’s a whole lot of books!
Yep, we do a whole lot of reading. 🙂 My husband has 4 more tall bookcases in his office, filled the max, of course.
Your library and office look very much like what I’d want to have–especially with the fireplace. 🙂
It’s lovely but I tell you, if the fireplace were all the way in my office, oh my, that would be the be all, end all. For now I can leave the French doors open though and see it all. I’m a happy camper wishing for a rainy day to enjoy it all.
Absolutely beautiful, Susan. Love the house.
Thanks, Barb. Sorry I haven’t been around much. I’m trying to get back into the swing of things.
Jealous
Words don’t begin to describe my jealousy. But the packing and unpacking of all these beautiful bookshelves? That, I’m happy to leave to you!
Laura
Re: Jealous
You know, it’s not even the unpacking that’s getting to me, it’s the trying to get it all organized again. That’s the tough part.
What a gorgeous room. What a lot of books. 🙂
Thank you. And yes, a LOT of books. I so wasn’t supposed to be packing them and I did and my shoulder is STILL sore. But it’s worth it.
Whoa! That’s amazing!
Hee hee heee. 🙂
