Do you recognize the new user pic?
That would be the Alamo. As in Texas history. As in the location of the story for the book I just sold to Lerner/Millbrook.
It’s called Enrique Esparza, Boy at the Alamo and is part of the “On My Own History” series (as is my book Robert Smalls Sails to Freedom.)
Woohoo for me!
WOO HOOOOOOOO
YAY SUSAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Laura!
Congratulations!!! You were working on that book when we first met!
Yes I was, and amazingly, I still have most of my hair. 🙂
whoops – meaning that the BOOK was making me crazy, not you.
YAHOO! God Bless TEXAS!
Congrats 😀
Thanks!
Wonderful!
Fun stuff, eh? 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Thank you.
Que bueno, Susan!!!!!!!
Gracias!
Remember the Alamo!
Yo te amo, mi amiga Susan Taylor Brown! {}‘s lovely use of espanol)
(just piggybacking on
SUSAN. SUSAN. SUSAN. I am so happy for you. Yo tengo mucho alegre por tu. {} (How’s that for remembering mi espanol, Senora High School Teacher?!)
And while I know next to nothing about the Alamo– all the more reason for you to publish your book For Me– I think one factoid sticks in my mind: Something Big — like the attack– happened on my birthday, March 6th. Does that sound right? Calendars always jot “Remember the Alamo!” on March 6th on my calendars, so unless they are talking about the rental car company, I think the Alamo and I have something in common. As in YOU. {}
Hurrahs and feliz escribiendo (happy writing)!
Re: Remember the Alamo!
LOL, Pamela my dear, thank you for always making me smile. And for sharing in my celebration.
Congratulations (again)!!! One can never be congratulated too often, right? 🙂 YIPPEEE for you!
(My avatar pic was taken soon after viewing the Alamo with Jennifer Groff during the winter ALA in January!)
Thanks, Debbi! And you’re right, the more celebrations the better!
Woo hoo!!
(And I totally knew your icon. When I was in school in Austin, we used to take field trips to the Alamo. Texas sure does like teaching its students about the Alamo! :D)
Let’s hope Texas will support yet another book on the Alamo.
Dude, totally. Texas loves stoires about itself and its history. When Texas talks about state pride, they really mean it.
Congrats Susan- fantastic news. I think I recognise the Alamo from movies
yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
and again YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Thank you!
Congrats!!
And I’m a Texan, so of course I recognize the Alamo…or rather, of course I remember the Alamo!
Thank you! And go Texas!
Mazel tov!
🙂
Must be especially lovely to get such good news amidst all the packing craziness.
Thanks, Lawrence, and yes, nice to have good news in the midst of the crazibess. I am trying not to calculate the ratio of my advance that will be spent on moving boxes and other moving expenses. 🙂
That is a huge Whoo Hooo!!!!!
Bravo!
Thank you! I like these kinds of WooHoos a lot!
Congratulations!!! Wonderful! Wonderful!
Thanks for celebrating with me.
Congrats! that’s so wonderful!!
Thanks for sharing in my joy.
Congratulations!!!
I love your good news!
But . . . have you seen the basement of the Alamo?
(sorry in advance for my goofy movie reference)
Re: Congratulations!!!
LOL and no, haven’t seen the basement. Actually haven’t even seen the movie. Didn’t want to until after the book was done.
Woo-hoo is right!
Congratulations. I can’t wait to read it. YAY!!!!
Thank you!
Congrats! Yippeeeeeeee!
Thanks, Kristy!
Congrats, Susan!
Thanks, Slatts. This was a hard won sale.

Glad I could start your morning off with an adrenalin rush!

Congrats!

Re: Yahoooie
Argh – could have sworn I had said thank you but I didn’t. My grandma would smack me upside the head.
A very belated thank you.
(cheering some more)
YAY!!
Yah! Congrats, Susan!
Belated thanks!
Yahoo!!! That’s fantastical news!
Thanks for cheering with me.
As a Texan, I love anything Texas. Congratulations. 🙂
thank you. I really thought I had responded to all these before. Sigh. My life is so out of control.
Yay!!!!!!!! I’m quite familiar with the Alamo, after having lived in San Antonio for a total of five years.
Tons of great stories there, that’s for sure.
YAY!!!
CONGRATULATIONS, SUSAN!
Re: YAY!!!
Belated thanks for the tiara!
Congrats! That’s a GREAT series. Have you worked with Lerner before? How long did it take to hear?
Yikes! Sorry for not getting back to you on this. Yes, this is my second book for this series. ROBERT SMALLS SAILS TO FREEDOM came out in January with them. This time it was a couple of months to hear but that wasn’t going through their normal submit in November thing. I’d been going back and forth with the editor there for a few months.
That’s wonderful, Susan!
Alamo book
Good Alamo stories are sorely needed here in the Lone Star State. I once gave a visiting illustrator some advice on a Texas topic that I hope he is following up on. Selling a Texas book can be huge! Congratulations Susan!
