Thanks! What happened was that I was going through a ton of magazines, cutting out collage elements and I kept getting these cards and they just looked like I should be able to use them for something. 🙂
I painted over one side, the ones that don’t have the doodles. Then on the other side I had some leftover construction paper that I glued on so I could doodle. I didn’t do a good job on the gluing so there are wrinkles but that’s okay.
Then I practiced my doodling. Some came out nice and some I just scribbled some color on to break up the big expanse of yellow. This has been a lesson in letting go of my perfectionism because some of them really are blah and blecky. So a good lesson to me.

Just read chapter 30. Oh, doesn’t a monthlong residency sound wonderful? I’ve applied for a couple of weeklong ones, but haven’t gotten them. Someday…
Maybe it’s time for me to just recognize that poetry is not a realistic way for me to earn income. I got a highly depressing royalty statement for Stampede the other day. Highly depressing.
I’m not a person who wants to write poetry for myself. I want to share it. That’s one reason I don’t care too much about sharing poems on my blog, etc. But maybe I need to really make a conscious decision that I want to *publish* my poetry, but that I’m not going to hold any expectations of it being any kind of major part of my writing income. In a way that makes me sad, but in another way, it might be a relief. I don’t know. I’m going to have to live with this idea a bit to see how it feels.
I love this sentence: “I owe myself the opportunity to dedicate my time and effort to my own writing for a change.” Amen!
Those are pretty little cards. Curious to see what is going to happen with them!
Tune back in on Tuesday for all the fun.
Oooh! I like the bottom set of cards. are they the other side? Did you do them?
Yes, I made them. That’s the front and back of the cards with something blocked out that I’ll show on Tuesday.
I started with those subscription cards that fall out of magazines, plus some craft paint I wanted to use up since I’ve converted to Golden Paints.
What a great idea. I tear them out and throw them away. You turn them into beauty! Do you paint over the printing??

Beautiful! You going to Asilomar this year?
Thanks, Laura. And yes, I’m going to Asilomar. Will I see you there?
Yes:) Can’t wait!
Whatever it is, it’s beautiful.
