Not a big update (and absolutely nothing to do with writing) but a big change for those of you who have met me or seen some pictures – I cut 12 inches off my hair!
There wasn’t enough of it at 12 inches in the condition that Locks of Love want so I wasn’t able to do that but this was a major change, in the midst of so many other major changes.
And of course, being as I work with engineers, none of them ever even noticed.
Wow! Post pictures!
Too funny about the engineers. My own husband never notices when I get a haircut. Which is okay, because he never notices when I gain weight either.
LOL on the not noticing. I told the guys at work it was okay that they didn’t notice a change in my hair but they better pay better attention to their own wives’ hair in the future.
Mine just says whatever makes me happy is fine with him but he really liked this.
Wow. That’s definitely gonna be something to get used to.
Yeah, hard to get used to not slamming it in the car door or getting tangled in it when I slept or having it fall into my food. 🙂
Crud. Now I don’t have a good icon of me and my dog anymore.
I don’t do any change well and this is taking some getting used to but it was time.
Post some pics.
Done.
I bet you look fabulous — do you feel lighter? Freer?
Don’t know about fabulous and right now I mostly feel like a clutzy uncoordinated dingdong who can’t even get her bangs to do the right thing. And I hate that my arm is so weak that it is hard for me to blow it dry and then curl it. So it’s hard….I like it and feel good about it but I resent the maintaince.
The hotel that I stayed at in DC had a hands-free blow dryer. It stayed on the counter top and you moved your head near it and could then comb your hair. They also sell blow dryer stands for the same purpose. (Adaptive technology is sometimes a necessity for me — I can’t usually hold the dryer long enough to dry my hair right, either, due to my arthritis.)
Oh Kelly, this sounds wonderful! I’ve got to go check it out. Thanks so much!
Hey, I’m planning to cut 10-14 inches off my hair this week, too (for Locks for Love)! I’ve actually been planning on doing this since summer (when it would’ve been closer to the 10 inch mark), but just never got around to it. It’s getting long enough now, though, that it’s getting caught in doors etc. Time to cut! (And my husband, the engineer, may not notice for a couple of days, either…)
Yeah for you! I was sad that I wasn’t able to donate mine.
🙂
I’ll bet it is beautiful! Nice to see you! I hope everything is looking up!
Re: 🙂
Thanks, Kim. I’m still in total denial about my life. I can breathe for a short bit after Wednesday.
Um, yes cutting off 12 inches is a big deal. Wow, that is great.
Thanks! It was hard to do.
OH MY GOODNESS!! Isn’t it amazing how much lighter your head feels? That’s what I always notice after serious loss of inches.
I hadn’t done anything like this is so many years that I had forgotten. I keep using too much conditioner in the shower because I’m used to needing a bunch to get all the knots out.
I’d feel better if my face were thinner but oh well
Hi, I wish you a great day! 🙂 and I think this is great! A new year! A new do! 🙂
Thanks, Meg!
This IS a big update. Good for you, making such a change! Please do post pictures, and I bet you look adorable.
I actually have trouble looking at myself in the mirror. I don’t feel very adorable. I feel, mmm…very much NOT.
You know we all want to see your beautiful new ‘do. Post pictures when you are able.
About the clue-free engineers…too funny!
Yeah, my engineers, they either make me cry or make me want to smack them upside the head a couple of times. Life isn’t dull around them.
pic??
Yay for you! I am long hair person, but every so often a change is good, fun and necessary! : )
Me too. Always been a long hair person but then I realized I was a fat long haired person hiding behind her hair. I kept saying when I lost the weight I’d lose the hair but I don’t seem to be making the right progress in one. Impulse, I guess.
Twelve inches is a pretty dramatic change! I had to laugh at those engineers for not noticing. My husband is an engineer and he wouldn’t notice if he came home and I was bald.
LOL. That’s what another friend said, would they even notice if I came in bald? They probably wouldn’t.
Wow! That’s quite a change! I hope you like it. Has it been hard to get used to?
I go back and forth. If I knew how to take care of it more easily, I’d like it more. Right now I have a hard time looking in the mirror because I don’t feel I look my best. So I’m just not looking.
