Being away from home for a few days for the conference last weekend has made it difficult for me to get back to my blog. Not good. So my Friday Five is potential blog posts for me to think about writing. If you want to hear about something in particular, let me know.
1. Things to post about – the Asilomar conference and what I learned about myself while I was there.
2. Branding and blogs and the super smart Lee Wind and what he taught me about branding and blogs.
3. My contemplations around the idea of starting another blog (insane, I know) to focus more on #2 and leaving my LiveJournal as my daily life….that seems wrong somehow and yet I can’t figure out how to integrate everything.
4. Cassie.
5. The garden
And a bonus. . .
6. Conversations about how authors who are not debut authors and not bestselling household names can band together and get some promotional attention.
How’s Cassie doing? I’d love to see some new pictures of her in your garden.
And whatever you choose to write…it’s all good. 🙂
Thanks, Melodye. I’m feeling really disjointed and I’m not quite sure why. Maybe my brain just needs a big chunk of quiet time to settle….alas that is in short supply.
Cassie is doing great….well except for the weird bumps which we are still investigating. Off to the doggy dermatologist next week.
I’ll try and get some current pictures of her.
Those all sound wonderful. I don’t know that you need to start another blog to handle any of those; I’d love to read about them here!
I’d love to hear more about the whole social networking thing, of which I consider you an expert.
I think the idea of another blog came up after the branding conversation I had with Lee. I don’t WANT another blog but I am feeling like I am unfocused. If I focus the blog more, that might be good…but will I lose the feeling of one writer on her path that I have here? Or is that even the right thing to worry about?
Ack!!!
I’d like to hear more about #1 and #2 in particular, but all the others are interesting, too! No need for a new blog 🙂
Thanks. Yeah, I’m thinking #1 is first up so I can get my own head wrapped around it.
2. I’d love to hear more about branding and blogs.
6. And I am also contemplating a group blog. Have discussed with publisher who is enthusiastic. I feel committed to that first but if it doesn’t work out I’d be interested.
There’s a lot to talk about with branding and blogs and I am still learning. I am envious, somewhat, of these people who start a blog already with a platform of such in mind, such as Lee Wind and his “I’m Here, I’m Queer, What Do I Read?”
It’s the perfect way for him to gather topics of interest that will support his writing insterest. I’m all over the map.
Yes, let me know if your other thing doesn’t work out. I’m not sure what to do but I will confess to being jealous of all the “debut” stuff. What about those of us who debuted pre-blog and internet?
Maybe we need an “Under the Radar” blog?
Even those of us who participate in debut groups … well, you only debut once. There’s then the issue of how to promote one’s second, third, etc. books.
Personally, I’ve been longing for a spot on the internet for grittier books. I know there are “clean reads” sites now and lots of stuff devoted to teachers and so forth, and that’s great, but my reading and writing are often more in the arena of what I call the “tough subjects.”
That’s a really good idea….and closer to home for me as well. Though Hugging the Rock is listed as a “clean read” it isn’t an easy one.
Hmm…might actually work along the lines of my blogging and branding stuff too.
Would you be interested in a small, private discussion group about blogs/branding/promo etc? I’m thinking of putting together a brain trust.
Sure!
