I always think of Susan Howatch’s epics The Rich are Different and Sins of the Fathers, but that’s probably not what you’re looking for.
No wrong answers. I don’t know what I’m looking for…that’s why I asked the question. 🙂 Thanks.
The titles sound trashy, but Howatch actually writes brilliant psychological dramas, many of them as disguised re-tellings of classic stories from history. (The Plantagenet family, for instance.) She’s especially good at making you believe in the rightness of one character’s POV, and then totally switching to another POV and revealing how deceptive the first POV really was. Her novels about the Church of England (the Starbridge series) are great reads.

Star Wars was the first thing that came to mind, with the original three movies being about the redemption of Annakin Skywalker. 🙂 There’s lot of Star Wars books and adaptations.

HUNGER GAMES. The kids who are chosen to compete are from districts that had family members rebel against the country. An interesting twist to the whole sins of the fathers theme.

Kids only? I just read Run by Ann Patchett, which is, I think, VERY much about that–although also maybe the sins of the mother. Fantastic book, but definitely “grown-up.” 🙂
