It was in a dream, but still, who am I to argue?
I dreamt I was having this great conversation with Matthew Perry. We were laughing and he was being wonderfully witty and funny and all sorts of things that I admired. So I told him so. I said I wished I could be like him and always know the right thing to say at the right time. I said I wished I was clever at conversations and knew how to make people laugh.
And he said, “I’m not doing anything special. All I’m doing is reading things from this book.”
I laughed and said, “Yeah right.” But I did notice that he had a book with a pale blue cover in his hands.
He said, “Really. That’s all. I just read what someone else already wrote. See, let me show you.”
Then he came around and stood behind me and lifted this book down in front of me. In it were many of the things we had talked about and so much more. He let me hold the book and I felt a little trickle of excitement before he took it back.
He started to walk away, turned around, and gave me that Matthew Perry grin before he said, “Someone had to write it all down for me. Someone had to write the book.”
And I knew when I woke up that it was time to start thinking about writing again even though I can’t imagine where it is going to fit into my day.
After all, someone has to write the book.
That’s a great dream, Susan.
Go write that book!
Thanks, now if I only knew WHICH book it was that I’m supposed to write. LOL
Maybe MP will visit again with more specifics. π
I like your dreams. Trade ya!
Nope. Not trading. Then I’d be stuck with the OTHER dream I had, the one where I was attacked by bugs and couldn’t get into my car to hide from them and when I got in, it was a convertible and the top wouldn’t go up.
I’m sticking with Matthew Perry, thank you very much. π
Yes!
Yea, Susan! I’m so happy to hear you say that! It *is* time for you to start writing, and I was beginning to worry that I’d have to come all the way out there and threaten to withhold all privileges like wine and chocolate until you got to work!
An interesting side note: Have you read A Great Good Thing? Interesting book. Not totally my style, but when it gets near the end and the woman is finally writing the book, the book the reader is holding…awesome!
Re: Yes!
Thanks Laura. You could withhold the wine and I’d be okay but the chocolate? You are a cruel woman. π
Wish you were flying in via San Jose so we could connect for a bit. I am still so insanely jealous of the Master Class you will be attending. Sigh. (And I mean that in the best possible way.)
I haven’t read A Great Good Thing. Will have to check it out. I actually even READ a book this weekend, Such a Pretty Girl. A whole book of fiction. That’s a first in months.
Wow! I wish my Muse were Matthew Perry! π Glad to hear you’re gearing up to dip your toes back into the writing pool. Let’s get together in August, shall we? π
Mmmm….good
August it is. And guess where we went on Saturday? To Santa Cruz. To Richards. And I have much chocolate on which to gourge.
Re: Mmmm….good
Ooh! I’ll have to make a run there sometime soon! YUMMMY!
See you in August then! I’ll email you about specific dates soon!
so glad to hear that you can at least start thinking about it! maybe just a little piece will fit into your day, and later grow to take up more time when you can let it.
yay for dreams telling us what we need to hear π
Thanks. I have had time away from writing before but this is one of the hardest I can remember ever trying to recover from.
to quote Bob Dylan: “You can be in my dream if I can be in yours…”
but when i asked my son many years ago why he wasn’t pursuing further ed. in movies–something he was a fanatic about–he said he wanted to write “better” books so “better” movies could be made….
Write the book!
Love love love your son’s attitude.
So what are you dreaming about lately?
So what are you dreaming about lately?
well, nothing quite as profound as yours…
But a recent one involved a big tree that suddenly lost all it’s green leaves to reveal a grey kitten way up on a branch. The kitten magically jumped to the ground and our B&W went up to sniff it. No fight occurred, so I took it as a good sign….
I know your a dog person, so you may not want to be in that dream…
(we’ve been thinking about getting two new kittens as our cat’s are getting old and guess this to ease that transition, etc. etc.–that’s why I must have been dreaming kittens!)
after all. . .you are right!
write! π
and I hope you had a wonderful birthday!
Happy Belated Birthday!
Thanks and yes, the birthday was quite grand. I wish I could find the time to be around here more.
Quite GRAND!
Excellent Birthday adjectives!
Happy, Happy to YOU! (and Robin and Ernest! :))
Very cool dream. I know that would definitely jumpstart me.
The brain is jumpstarted, for sure…but the time…oh where oh where is the time to write?
I’m so happy Matthew Perry paid you a visit!
thanks Kelly!
I’m so glad I got the chance to blog. I miss being here. I keep saying that but since we moved I’ve had so little time for anything outside of the house.
Writing
There’s some truth in your dream because it really helps to read as much as possible books because this helps you to improve your creativity and find new ideas.
