I have yet to see a Redbud in full bloom such as this but someday. I have two of them in my front yard on each side of the dry creek bed. Even though they are only a couple feet tall right now I can easily imagine them 10 feet tall or more, branches gracefully swooping over the edge of the creekbed.

what lovely imagery! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for reading! I am slowly getting back in touch with more poetic thoughts so this has been a good challenge for me.
I haven’t commented much on your haikus, but I’m really enjoying them each day, and I’m impressed with your process.
Thanks Anne Marie. It is teaching me a lot about discipline. I am usually quit when things get tough so I will be very proud of myself if I make it to the end of the month with one a day.
There’s a lot of revising ahead but it is reminding me why I love to play with words.
OMG! I love this one–it might be my favorite yet. Talk about using the rules to break the rules–I don’t think any of the original haiku poets ever envisioned kool-aid! 🙂
Yeah, the Kool-aid was sorta inspired. hahaha
Thanks.
We are ALL about the redbuds here in Austin, Texas. When I first moved here, I saw one from afar and thought it was a lilac. I was so surprised, and a little hurt, when I got up close and realized it wasn’t. Since then I’ve grown to love them…
Around here they call it the most beautiful tree. I don’t know that I would go that far because my Ironwoods are my favorite tree, but it is pretty.
I think I goofed where I planted one of mine though because it is on the side of the creekbed that will get some summer water and these guys want summer dry. Oops.
Mmm. “pink kisses flirt with the sun” is very nice indeed.
Redbud is one of the few things I miss from the MidWest.
