That’s basically why I am not posting – I’m not balancing life very well at the moment. Nothing earthshattering, nothing bad, just way too much to do, not enough time and I pretty much stink at that time management thing. Factor in the day job and how I am so NOT a morning person and there you have it. I make lists, lose lists, make more lists, lose more lists, try to remember things, mostly remember things, go into a panic because I didn’t remember things then lay awake most of the night with writing thoughts racing through my head.
Oh, honey. I am so there with you. SO THERE.
*hugs*
Thanks. It sucks to feel so out of control of my own life. I wonder if I will ever be a grownup? Sigh.
Right there with ya,Susan. My poor planning has left me with almost 50 critiques to do today… it’s gonna be a long one. I’m pretty much signing off now!
I think we’ve all been there, and that it’s a symptom of being a grown-up. Because, really, when you were a kid you did what you did and what you didn’t do either didn’t matter, or someone else took care of it.
I hope you get a break soon — it sounds like you need a few hours to yourself.
Thanks, Kelly. And you’re right, of course. I’m doing the countdown to the weekend of R&R.
Funny, I was just thinking the very same thing last night. I thought that now that I have more time, managing it would be easy. Hah. Don’t be too hard on yourself!
Yikes, if you’re not managing there’s no hope for me. 🙂
I hope you have a productive day today! I’ve had the same list problems – so I usually use a notebook (which is harder to lose than a single sheet of paper), or type it on the computer.
so does the notebook go everywhere with you? That’s been the problem, having a list at home and a list at work and a list on the computer at home and a list on the computer at work….oy!
I’m a writer/stay at home Mom, so all notes have been in my house so far. I’ve come up with ideas in the car, but usually wait until I get home to write them down. I did get a little confused between notebooks – I have one in my room and one downstairs, but my daughter has a habit of walking away with the downstairs one – which is why I’ve been typing more notes on the computer.
Can you e-mail the list to yourself? That way you can get it at work or home.
yep, I do that too. Mail stuff to myself, leave myself voice mails. I’m just way too overbooked and not enough down time to reach that calm place one needs to try and get their act together.
My sleep patterns have been off lately so I’m with you on the exhausted (better today though). The other day I found a Shakespeare quote that is such a perfect fit I had to copy it down:
Weary with toil, I haste me to my bed,
The dear repose for limbs with travel tired;
But then begins a journey in my head
To work my mind, when body’s work’s expired:
(ps: hope things slow down soon)
How very appropriate. Thanks for sharing.
Talk about being in each other’s zones today! Boy, can I relate to about 99% of what you described here!
Yeeesh!
Love the icon!
I hear you, Susan. Surviving, let alone thriving, is hard. Best wishes.
Yes, that’s a lot of it too. Who wants to JUST survive?
I hope your week gets better!
I’m with the notebook people. I try to avoid jotting lists on loose sheets of paper.I lose them too. Notebooks work better for me, but we won’t talk about all the spelling tests and drawings my children leave in my notebooks–or when they carry them around the house and misplace them.
Take the time you need to regroup. Sometimes life just gets crazy!
My husband recently had the experience of being married to a woman he had never met when he wrote on the FRONT of a letter from a publisher. It was right on the table so it was considered fair game. NOT anymore.
I just got a tiny, almost address book sized, notebook to put in my purse so I could keep my list with me. A steno pad is too big for the purse, though perfect for writing in. I think a lot of this stems from no longer having young kids and needing to carry a big bag around where there was always room for stuff and the fact that when I lived in New Orleans I stopped carrying a purse altogether.
Okay, and I just plain have a bad habit about this sort of thing. There, I’ve said it.
