Taking an informal survey here, mostly because I am contemplating some changes in my own blog reading habits, like moving everything, even my Livejournal stuff, into Google Reader.
So help me out here….where do you read this blog of mine or other blogs?
Here on LiveJournal?
On Facebook?
Google Reader?
Jacket Flap?
Other blog reader? (Please let me know which one.)
I read this on LiveJournal. I’m not likely to change that.
Thanks. I’m feeling pretty comfy here too.
I read this on LJ, but I read things on InsaneJournal and Dreamwidth too.
Thanks.
LiveJournal.
BTW, Google Reader was the one that I spent two hours trying to join so I could comment on someone’s blog, and gave up in disgust.
That’s odd about Google Reader. It’s just a reader – you wouldn’t use it to comment. You’d still have to go to their site to comment. (Unless something has changed in the last year since I played with it.)
I will always be here on LJ but I think I need to organize my reading a bit better.
It was agent NB’s blog on Blogspot. He was having a contest and there was a short window of opportunity to enter it.
He’s since changed his blog so I can read it here on a feed no problem.
Live Journal.
Thanks.
Read your blog on LiveJournal!
I tried adding some other blogs to Google Reader, but didn’t like the interface. I also stopped imbedding my own blog in Facebook because it wasn’t picking up all my images. For other blogs I read, like Blogger ones, I subscribe to the feed. Going down my list of favorite feeds is easier than Google Reader for me.
So Jama, do you have the feeds come to your mailbox or go read at a site?
I have tried having some blogs come via email but I already have to go through hundreds of emails a day that the thought of more in my email box freaks me out. 🙂
Do you use Windows XP? I just click on Favorites in the upper left of my screen, then the Feeds tab, and click on which feed/blog I want to read. If I want to comment, then I have to click through to the actual blog. With Google Reader, there’s that frame surrounding the posts which I don’t like.
LJ
Thanks.
I read in Google Reader, but do come to LiveJournal to comment.
Thanks, Tricia. Any pros or cons to Googele Reader that you can see? I’ve played with it a little but I haven’t made the committment to it and I think that’s what I need to do if I want to get more things in one place. I figure then I could come over to LJ to comment on go to Blogger to comment, etc.
My biggest issue with google reader is that since it’s so easy to add blog subscriptions, you end up with a ton of stuff on there and there’s just not enough time to go through it all.
Yeah….I also find that I want, on Google Reader, to delete posts like I would emails.
Live Journal 🙂
Thanks.
Usually on my LJ friends page, but I often get a heads up on FB or Twitter. Which I like! 🙂
Thanks. Yeah, sometimes I need to see a link a couple of times before I click through.
I read lj through lj . . . through google reader you wouldn’t be able to see friendslocked entries. I create feeds for non-lj blogs here but you have to be a paid user to do so (not to add existing feeds, just to create new ones).
Yeah, that’s what I’ve been doing, creating feeds here. I’ve got a permanent account. I just wish I could track favorites better and tag other people’s stuff so I can find it later.
You could use del.ico.us to tag favorites. It’s one more thing though. Or you could use the Memories function to tag favorites of others.
Where do I read blogs?
99.9% of the blogs I read come in my Google Reader. I found them via other blogs or by searching for a specific topic.
LJ!
And sometimes FB and Twitter.
Thanks.
LJ. 🙂
Thanks.
Facebook’s a fun playground, but Live Journal’s my backyard, where I can chat with friends at my leisure. Selfishly speaking, I hope you’ll keep hanging out with us here…
I’m not going anywhere…I’ll still be blogging here as this is my homebase. But I need to figure out how to organize my READING of blogs because I’m either missing things or reading too much or or or ….
I will be honest: I read a lot of blogs on feeds fed right into LJ and DW. Mostly DW. It cuts down on what I can miss, since I have my f-list set up into “default” – which is all the personal blogs, and “feeds” which is quite a few different feeds, of different things.
That’s what I’ve been doing too, making feeds for my favorites to read them here on LJ but I really like the search ability on Google Reader and since I have to click through on a feed to comment no matter where I am, that might be the best choice.
I may regroup my stuff on LJ though so that the blogs I interact with more regularly are easier for me to find. I dunno.
LiveJournal. It’s my only home on the blogosphere, although I occasionally read other journals at other locations. But if I only have time to skim through, this is da Place.
Yep. This place feels most like home to me.
Livejournal. I subscribe to a lot on Google Reader, too. It’s easy since I’m on Gmail all day.
I wish I could delete items on Google Reader and just keep what I want like I would in Gmail. sigh.
I read blogs on LJ, pretty much exclusively. I’m crap at remembering to read blogs of friends elsewhere.
Yeah, that’s what’s happening with me…I’m forgetting to read elsewhere. But I can’t seem to organize what I read on the feeds here on LJ in such a way as to remember them…especially if there are posts I want to remember to share later.
My LJ friends page.
I read it on Lj but occasionally catch something on FB.
I read all my LJ blogs on my LJ friends list. I try to do that daily.
I have also bookmarked several non-LJ blogs and divided them into “daily” and “weekly” reading. I read them on the Internet, by clicking on my bookmarks.
Through my LJ Friends list.
I read through Google Reader and comment through LJ 🙂
Here on LiveJournal.
LJ; i go to friends’ page. I’ve never even heard of google reader. 🙂
I read on LJ — that’s my main blog reading with a few feeds (half of which you set up — thanks, Susan!)
not so random commenter
livejournal!!
This blog – lj feed.
Other blogs – either lj feed or google reader.
I read your blog on Livejournal. I’m unlikely to change, but would miss you if you went elsewhere. Similarly, Marjorie Liu (of romance novel and X-Men fame) had an LJ, then went to a journal housed on her website. I try to visit but tend to forget.

re: non-cuss words
Re: non-cuss words -thats a great idea! You might want to go to bigidea.com,for some ideas.
I think I heard–‘Oh, peanut brittle’ from 1 of their veggie tale videos once..
Also go to: http://www.cbn.com,then search, specifically, 2 of their articles:
“Taming the Tongue” by Steven Lang & “What’s wrong with profanity.” by Hannah Goodwyn.(Obviously there is a lot wrong with profanity & cuss words, otherwise it wouldnt make people cringe, get in trouble at school & public for it & it isn’t on all media, thank goodness. Also, please, check out-www.focusonthefamily.org
& they have http://www.pluggedinonline.com,which has a great parent& people site to know what cussing is in movies/dvds & other objectionable items in movies, before you go or rent it.Even though frekin’ sounds better than they real f word
I prefer people dont use the letter f when replacing bad words, because it sounds like they are actually saying & wanting to say the f word anyway. It’s not good to say freakin’,especially with mean tone, it just sounds like they are saying the real f word anyhow. Better to say, Oh gosh or something else. Using replacement words for f & s word is always definitley better than the real f & s word. But I would use replacement words that dont start with f or s.
If we,kids & teens could use words that always edify & build people up & bring peace & harmony;it would be better for all.
If one has the time-they could communicate–for instance:”I felt bugged or dissappointed when I spilled the rest of my milkshake etc..”
I believe our attitudes, our words,& our happiness can be improved by being good-humored about things in life.
PS There was a study that showed g-d words & maybe some cuss words, brought in negative energy in a room & that positive & praise words brought in positive energy.
LJ almost all the time, with occasional click-throughs from FB. And I, too, am grateful for the feeds you’ve set up!
LJ Friends page!
I usually read it on LJ because that’s where the link takes me from my email.
